GET DISTROED & REVIEWED and heck, we might even put your work on our PODCAST as well. It's simple, it's fun, and it's oh-so-easy.
North West Zine Works is a commission based zine distributor working out of the blue collar town of Longview, Washington. We're a small operation who wants to get the word out about the wonderful world of zines (not to be confused with the Wonderful World of Disney). We run out of our living room, of all places. We're not big, and we're not fancy, and we have been known to send out zines wrapped in the sunday funnies when we're low on brown wrapping paper or boxes.
We review just about EVERY zine we get ahold of. As a general rule we try to steer clear of hate based zines, it's one thing for a quarter page rant about how you don't like the administration du jour, but it's quite another thing to publish a rag about mass slaughter of an entire people complete with "how-to". Your review is free, of course, and we ask that you allow us to use a scan of the cover image and one or two interior pages so that people will know what your zine looks like.
If you want to send us five (5) copies of your zine to sell for you on a consignment basis, well that's the easy part. You need a FORM LIKE THE ONE ON THIS PAGE and then just wrap it up. I sell for cover price, on a 50/50 basis, so if your zine is $2.00 I cut you a buck out of each one. If your zines sell quickly, I'll defiantly request more when I send you your money. I generally go through the books every other month or so and generally ship money when it's over $5.00. If your zine has several different issues out (#1, #2, etc...) please only send five of each one. I like to run specials where people can buy 1-x at a discount (which I absorb, you still get the same 1/2 cover price). If, after a few months, your zine is NOT selling, I'll ship them back to you, AT MY EXPENSE in SALEABLE CONDITION. I DO NOT RIP OFF COVERS. That's a bullshit corporation tactic. When you send your zines to me, they go into a nice manilla folder with your zines name on it, and then they go through my reviewing process, where my elves and I give it a short written review and (eventually) a longer podcast review. This process takes about two weeks or so, so please be patient. We're just in the project phase of the podcast, so please don't count on them for a huge influx of orders. We don't have an advertising budge per sae, just word of mouth, so if you have a web site you can always swap links with us =^_^=
If you just want your zine reviewed and promoted in our web site & podcast, we will be happy to do so. Just send us a copy of your zine with a little note asking for a review. These zines I do give away, or I keep in my personal collection or donate or I put in grab bags. If I feel I can sell your zine, I will send you a consignment form asking for five copies.
We welcome letters and other correspondence. Please note that the postal office in their infinite wisdom will not deliver postal mail unless it has MY NAME on it to our POST OFFICE BOX. We have gone 'round and 'round with them about this, but let's just face it, they are being little turdlies. So here's how it should look:
